MagnaMAX stainless
Stay sharper for longer, without compromise.
What the numbers mean
01
Hardness
Hardness is measured on the Rockwell C scale and set by the heat treatment. Ours are hardened to 64, which is incredibly hard, meaning your edge stays true longer.
02
Edge retention
A harder edge cuts longer between sharpenings. Our knives keep cutting through the work, saving you time while your buddy touches up his knife in the field.
03
Ground thin
Hardness only matters if the grind is thin enough to use it. A thinner blade will always slice like a sharper blade.
04
Firearm-grade PVD
The finish is bonded to the steel through physical vapour deposition. It cuts cleanly and protects the blade from wear.
What goes into it
MagnaMax is the first stainless steel to carry no chromium carbides. Its wear resistance comes from vanadium and niobium instead- particles that are harder and much finer- which leaves the chromium dissolved in the steel where it can actually fight corrosion. The result holds an edge longer, doesn't rust, and stands the test of time.
Hardened at 2150°F, plate quenched, then straight into liquid nitrogen at minus 320°F before tempering. The cold finishes what the quench starts, converting the soft austenite a quench leaves behind. Tempered twice at 350°F and finishing at 64 HRC.
Made in Bozeman
Every blade is assembled and serialized by hand in Bozeman, Montana. We then bring them through rigorous quality control checks before being boxed by the maker.
When it needs to come back, we take the knives, tune them up, and get them back to you without fuss so your knife stays just like it came out of the box.
